I have had some similar experiences. I was on an overnight stay on the USS Lexington two years ago and we did a thing called firewatch, where the older kids would go around and "look for fires" at night. Anyways my friends and I found out the hard way that no one turned the motion sensor tour things off at night and got freaked out a few times by those.

What one doesn't realize about aircraft carriers though is that they are massive fear cages. That's where like there are wires or something with an electrical charge going over ones head. The field generated by the wires fucks with a persons brain (don't ask me how it works, I'm not exactly sure) but anyways those are all over the place in carriers.

There did happen something that I can't explain though. A few of us heard something out on deck so we went to check it out. Inside the gun turrets there was this thing you would push that would make an alarmy noise and say some stuff and that was going off. The wind didn't set it off though, it was a hard button to push.

Also one of the doors- may I remind you these things were watertight, like an inch thick of steel- was open. I have no idea how it had gotten open, one of the guys in charge of the ship had closed it before going to bed. I mean that thing was swinging in the breeze. We told the dude the next morning and he basically said that stuff like that happened all the time. So you're not alone man.

The hornet is really cool. Been there twice and loved it both times. While i didn't experience anything either time, I very much felt that tension and feeling in the air they comes with the lost.

Could not recommend the museum enough! Part of my lifelong goal to visit each of the 5 aircraft carrier museums in the US.

Now You Can Sleep Aboard the USS Hornet, the Most Haunted Ship in America | Military.com
September 7, 2022 - For those who believe in this kind of thing, it's no wonder that the Hornet is considered the most haunted ship in the Navy, and one of the most haunted places in America. It's a place where switches allegedly turn on, lockers doors open and objects move by themselves, often by two feet or more.
