Seriously though, excellent insight. The fact that ayahs get longer as you move through the chronology of the Quran has indeed been noticed by Muslim scholars and discussed. The common consensus (basically what I was taught) was that the latter verses were largely legislative and "nation building" in nature. For instance 2:282 is the longest verse in the Quran, and it talks about debts and lending. Mohammed was coming into his power and was starting to lay down laws and policies. Which is why you see a marked shift from the short, poetic, and largely peaceful verses towards the longer, more descriptive and legislative.
