Blood Thinners | Anticoagulants | MedlinePlus
It is important to make sure that you're taking enough medicine to prevent clots, but not so much that it causes bleeding. Bleeding is the most common side effect of blood thinners.

Side effects of blood thinners scare me.
I think you're overthinking the side effects and I'd argue the risk of not taking them is more than the risk of taking them. There is plenty here that have been on thinners for 20+ years and are perfectly fine. I've been on one for over 10 years ans have had no issues so far. I would emphasize the need for caution however. You most likely will have to adjust your life and if your into sports, you need to cut out all contact sports. You also will just have to be more cognizant about cuts, bruising and all of that good stuff. You can do it though it takes some time. More on reddit.com

Blood thinner side effects?
Hey, I was discharged on the 8th! Massive bilateral PE’s and significant DVT(occlusive superficial femoral, popliteal and posterior tibial). Lovenox to Eliquis. Currently Eliquis. I think they may be accurate in reference to effect of anxiety. Initially I was a mess; not eating, nauseous, pain, etc. After accepting the truth that this may very well kill me, I began to contemplate what, if anything I could do to improve my position. I started walking about 4 miles a day and eating. Not much, but it was a start. I also worried about the effects of Eliquis and interaction of my other meds (bipolar I) but ultimately came to the conclusion that a sedentary lifestyle was more likely to kill me than anything else. I’m currently walking 10 miles a day and awaiting a follow-up Doppler to clear me to resume running. Fuck it. If I’m gonna die, I’m gonna go out with a decent quality of life. Obviously I’m not a doctor and this only personal experience…and very likely poor advice. But I feel 100 percent better and more productive. More on reddit.com

Who's been on blood thinners for decades without complications?

🙋‍♂️ I'm at about 11 years by now.

It's given me terrible health anxiety.

Might want to see someone about that, if you aren't already :)
