I think there has to be a transgender category. I don’t think it’s right transgender compete under men or women. Before I get slaughtered for this comment I am all for gender equality and rights. More on reddit.com

Google Joanna Harper and read her study on transwomen in sports. It's currently the only actual study on the subject and **SURPRISE** it doesn't turn out the way incels and all the other actual bigots think.

Can you link me to the study you are refering to? Is it:

Harper J. Race time for transgender athletes. J Sporting Cult Identities. 2015;6:1–9. doi: 10.18848/2381-6678/CGP/v06i01/54079

?

Anyway, there certainly have been more than one paper asking the question whether MtF transgender athletes have an edge over cis females (or whether MtF gender transition decreases the advantage males have over females). Unfortunately, most of these studies are usually underpowered, have a rather short follow-up and use quantiative measures such as isokinetic muscle strength tests as proxies for performance. There recently was e.g. this study from my old alma mater:

Wiik A, Lundberg TR, Rullman E, Andersson DP, Holmberg M, Mandić M, Brismar TB, Dahlqvist Leinhard O, Chanpen S, Flanagan JN, Arver S, Gustafsson T. Muscle Strength, Size, and Composition Following 12 Months of Gender-affirming Treatment in Transgender Individuals. J Clin Endocrinol Metab. 2020 Mar 1;105(3):dgz247. doi: 10.1210/clinem/dgz247. PMID: 31794605.
