r/Cyberpunk on Reddit: Amazon Ditches 'Just Walk Out' Checkouts - which relied on more than 1000 people in India watching you as you shopped
April 2, 2024 -

“Just over half of Amazon Fresh stores are equipped with Just Walk Out. The technology allows customers to skip checkout altogether by scanning a QR code when they enter the store. Though it seemed completely automated, Just Walk Out relied on more than 1,000 people in India watching and labeling videos to ensure accurate checkouts. The cashiers were simply moved off-site, and they watched you as you shopped.”

Amazon ends “AI-powered” store checkout, which needed 1,000 ...
April 3, 2024 - It's just not ready to automate entire stores and won't be for a while. Doesn't matter how much money they throw at it. ... Click to expand... There’s good news and bad news. The good news is they won’t be exploited anymore. The bad news is they won’t get paid anymore. ... This is borderline fraud, isn't it? I'd imagine investors who thought Amazon had some advance ai and camera surveillance and was going to revolutionize the grocery shopping experience will be mad to learn it was actually just being run by humans.

So, Amazon’s ‘AI-powered’ cashier-free shops use a lot of … humans. Here’s why that shouldn’t surprise you | James Bridle | The Guardian
April 16, 2024 - A small grocery store like the Amazon Fresh shops might have half a dozen staff. Assuming all of them were on full wage (unlikely) and all of them were on the lowest wage (ie not managers), the average individual salary would be about £20k and the annual wage bill would be about £130k. When this work is outsourced via video cameras, it is passed to data labellers. Amazon’s remote data labellers might be paid one or two pounds an hour, if they are lucky.

r/HEB on Reddit: The Latest Self Checkout Scam
October 29, 2023 -

OK it's probably not the latest, but I hadn't seen it before:
Person checks all their groceries, presses the button to pay, and doesn't pay. They walk out.

We saw this happen in Lakeway last week. We were next in line to get a self checkout station. We got to the station and there were some steaks rung up and the system was sitting at the screen where it says to use the machine for payment.

We got assistance and the staff cleared those steaks off the computer, but not before practically patting us down to be sure we weren't the thieves. We understand, but it still felt yucky. We were not wearing baggy clothes or carrying backpacks. Husband was wearing skinny jeans and a t-shirt and not carrying a bag. I was wearing similar clothes and carrying my phone bag which isn't even big enough to fit my car key fob, which is on a caribiner clipped to the strap. IDK where they thought we could possibly hide steaks.

Last night we were back in the store to pick up a couple items for dinner and the one person working self-checkout was hovering, trying to maintain visibility of the payment part of each transaction. He wasn't singling us out, he was trying to watch all the stations to make sure people paid, while also providing assistance to whoever needed it. IDK how one person can manage that because the checkout stations aren't neatly lined up in a row, they're laid out in a square. He looked stressed out.

Anyway, I hope this isn't happening at your store too. Thieves suck!

The common theft techniques at self-checkouts include the “banana trick,” where customers ring up more expensive items as cheaper ones; “pass around,” where patrons bypass the scanner; and “switcheroo,” where shoplifters swap barcodes or tags. Grocery stores can enhance security by providing attentive customer service, utilizing security scales to detect weight discrepancies, installing cameras directly above the self-checkout, and employing AI video analytics software to identify suspicious behavior.

Self-Checkout Doesn’t Stand a Chance Against Fraud. Now What?
June 20, 2024 - And, even if a retailer sees these actions on video, it’s after the fact and there's little to be done. If the bad actor doesn’t leave an identifier such as a loyalty card, then it's nearly impossible to track them down. To combat these issues, major retailers have tried diverse methods to mitigate the risk of SCO. Target, for instance, limited the self-checkout kiosk to be used only for 10 items or less and converted more SCO lanes to traditional, staffed lanes, limiting the risk and making it easier for greeters to validate orders on exit.

r/Scams on Reddit: Checkout.com Work Remote Scam or Not
February 26, 2024 -

Trying to figure out if this is a scam. Checkout.com

Used Cash App for the smaller amounts, Crypto.com for anything over 1,000, LBANK to withdrawal funds and deposits. I am in the negative 50,000 and to remain active I did receive the 5 day salary of $750, but used that to continue with tasks. I am in a group of 40 people on WhatsApp called Motivated Minds. I downloaded and saved the WhatsApp conversation and screen shot and filed all the information from Telegram/and side conversations with my trainer on WhatsApp.

First of all, we can complete 3 sets of tasks per day, you must complete 2 sets of 42/42 optimization tasks per day in order to sign up for a workday, and request a full withdrawal after completing all 3 sets of tasks!

For 5 consecutive days, you will receive a base salary of $770.For 15 consecutive days you will receive a base salary of $1,500 and for 30 consecutive days you will receive a base salary of $3,700

The company is Checkout.com

Hi, I’m Eileen, Checkout’s agent.

I hope it doesn't bother you, Olivia from The Richmond Group USA, let me know you want to know about the work I'm doing, right? Have a nice day

What I am sharing with you is a remote job that you can consider part time or full time. No experience required. It is easy to get started. You can do this job in your free time. 1-2 hours per day. The location is up to you. You will be paid $60-200 per day. , are you interested in working remotely?

Checkout is an international optimization company and you can search for information about our company on any website. Our main responsibility is to optimize the app's data to increase its exposure, downloads, reviews, etc. This will improve its ranking in Appstore and Playstore.

You don't need to buy 91usdt now because you just earned 79.76usdt, you just need to buy some USDT with $20 to reset the first set of tasks to start your first working day and earn the second set of commissions again for completing the tasks If you buy again immediately, you can withdraw your principal and earn commissions!
