Are there any NFL teams associated with certain political parties/movements?
Every NFL is owned and operated by rich people, if that gives you any indication. But from a marketing standpoint, teams don't openly affiliate like that. Politics and the like are so divisive, why would a team want to just cut out half its fanbase by, say, taking an official stand for a presidential candidate? More on reddit.com

Why do NFL players seem more conservative then NBA players?
Probably a lot of explanations, but the most simple (yet reductive) is that basketball players are from urban backgrounds, football players tend to be from more rural backgrounds. And that divide drives political thought more than many other factors. More on reddit.com

How Every NFL Team’s Fans Lean Politically | FiveThirtyEight
September 29, 2017 - Yet, according to our poll, the Cowboy fan base is far more Republican than the Packer fan base. That may be why Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has tried to remain in Trump’s good graces. The Democratic lean of the Packer fan base may be tied to the fact that the Green Bay area has the smallest television market of any NFL franchise.

Imo yes. Could be bias/the idea that I'm more likely to meet conservatives who will openly voice their opinion vs liberals or the guys who do my sport are a bit older in general and thus more cons.

But I've noticed from my personal life that things like combat sports are very conservative, and everyone there is a bit of a conspiracy theorist. Always talking how people want to take our freedoms away, lockdown/covid being a lie, etc.

In Soccer, especially in Europe, a lot of teams have certain political identities attached to them, for example Celtics FC and Rangers FC have a football rivalry and mostly Catholic and Protestant fanbases, SS Lazio is known to have right wing ultras in their fanbase, St Pauli has been associated with left wing supporters.

Is there something like this in the NFL?

Political dissension in the workplace? NFL stars are just like the rest of us - The Athletic
3 weeks ago - Culturally, Carter had little in common with the conservative on that stage in Suffern, N.Y., and, as happens every day in America when our political fissures create friction, he aired his dissent to his online audience. He retweeted a video of Dart with the U.S. president, mocking the moment, dismissing it as “s—.” He questioned what Dart was doing on that stage. Any other time, this wouldn’t have mattered — social media exists as the fertilizer for whatever thought passes through our heads. But Jaxson Dart isn’t your everyday White Republican. Abdul Carter isn’t just any Black man who’d be suspicious of the intentions of someone who’d gleefully align himself with the most divisive political movement of our lifetime. Rather, they are New York Giants teammates and for a day, a duration of a news cycle, they offered a peek behind the curtain of how locker rooms are functioning in the Trump era. Even an NFL roster isn’t safe from the squabbles that happen in today’s political climate.

January 30, 2026 - The NFL isn't really right leaning though - it's a massive corporation that cares about money above all else. They pick halftime performers based on who will get the most eyeballs and generate buzz, not political alignment. A controversial performance gets people talking which means more viewers next year ... Yes, they are an entertainment business. They look for audience size, not political association.

r/billsimmons on Reddit: Why do NFL players seem more conservative then NBA players?
January 20, 2026 -

It seems like NFL players, overall, lean more conservative or are at least much more comfortable being publicly associated with conservative politics compared to athletes in other leagues. This has stood out to me more and more over time.

On the white player side, you have very visible examples like Nick Bosa and Harrison Butker, who have openly expressed conservative views or traditional values. That kind of politics rarely causes serious backlash in the NFL and often feels normalized or expected within the league.

What stands out even more is that this pattern is not limited to white players. Several high-profile Black NFL players have also been linked to conservative politics. Lamar Jackson has had multiple moments that caught attention, including the old “Truzz Trump” interaction years ago and more recently reposting content from Charlie Kirk. Saquon Barkley was photographed golfing with Donald Trump and even flew with him to the White House, explaining that he respects the office regardless of who holds it. Antonio Brown ( probably CTE for him honestly) and Le’Veon Bell both publicly endorsed Trump and appeared at rallies. Herschel Walker is a longtime Trump associate who spoke at the Republican National Convention. Lawrence Taylor has voiced support for Trump as well. The Sanders family also comes up in this conversation, with Deion Sanders maintaining a friendly relationship with Trump and publicly interacting with him.

This does not seem limited to just a handful of players either. Articles and polls over the years suggest that NFL players as a group skew more conservative than many people expect, especially when compared to athletes in other major professional sports.

When you contrast this with the NBA, the difference is striking. NBA players are far more outspoken on progressive politics and social justice issues. LeBron James has openly endorsed Democratic candidates. Players like Marcus Smart and Tobias Harris used press conferences to demand justice for Breonna Taylor. Teams participated in protests, moments of silence, jersey messages, and coordinated league-wide activism. The WNBA did similar actions, including walkouts during the anthem and a 26-second moment of silence in Taylor’s honor. Political engagement in basketball feels visible, normalized, and even encouraged.
