August 3, 2024Accessing 'My Maps' in Google Maps
Answering my own post in case anyone else is having this problem because I think I have found a semi-solution. In the end I copied the URL from desktop and sent to my mobile. The URL then opens in Chrome (as opposed to Google Maps). I then added a shortcut to the map on my Android home screen so it is easy to access. It's not perfect, but honestly My Maps integration never has been so I guess it's better than nothing. More on reddit.com

I would say I’m quite an avid user of google mymaps and i can definitely share some things I like and dislike. LIKE: icons you can choose the colour of - turning layers on/off - ease of organising (drag/drop) DISLIKE: the limited amount of layers (10 I think) - impossible to keep a map on your screen all the time (I would like to see a specific map when I’m on holiday for instance) - it would be nice to make navigation to/from points in mymaps easier. If you ever need user testing or anything I’d love to help out! All the best! More on reddit.com

I’m not sure if I’m just a major noob here. I’ve used Google My Maps to pinpoint and save all the places we wanna visit for our trip. However when I open it on my phone using the app (which is obviously how we will be using it during the trip), it’s so counter intuitive and hard to use?
It gives me my legend to see the entire list of saved places, but I can’t click anything on the list. What’s the point in that? It’s going to be so hard having to guess where a specific place is on my map of legend symbols, or having to remember a specific place’s name to manually search it - which totally defeats the purpose of the map in quickly finding and navigating things.
What do others use here? Or am I using Google My Maps wrong??

I've put together a map in My Maps with a lot of pins. But I can't seem to access this in the latest version of Google Maps on Android. I Used to be able to go into my saved maps and access it from there, but can't find this option now.
My Maps app is no longer supported and doesn't show all maps, and when I save it to Google Drive and go to open it, I get an error saying it can't open the map.
Please help! I spent ages putting these pins in, but have no way to access on my phone. Or if you have any recommendations for similar apps let me know.

I was able to view the map I created in My Maps by opening the link in a browser, then clicking the "Preview" button opened it in the Google Maps app. :)

Hi r/GoogleMyMaps , I'm an indie developer currently working on a service called Tasmap. It's somewhat of an alternative to Google My Maps, basically functioning as a Medium-style editor plus customizable maps. I'd like to know what aspects of the current Google My Maps you like or dislike? What features make it indispensable for you?

My biggest issue is we don't have an app anymore. And I wich we could have higher resolution photos.
