Jewish Zionism is a political movement of self determination. It has religious branches but the movement itself isn't rooted in religious beliefs or biblical prophecies. It's the affirmation of the right of the Jewish people to have self determination in the form of an independent state on their ancestral land. Christian Zionism was mainly born out of the idea that the gathering of all Jews in Israel would bring forth the second coming of Jesus. Jews at that point would either convert to Christianity or die I guess. Wait they still teach that Jews killed Jesus in the US ? Can someone please explain how any Christian could beleive in Christian Zionism?
I am referring to the belief that God favors Israel no matter what and it is Gods will that every country favor Israel or suffer the consequences.
God himself didn’t favor Israel no matter the consequences ( See book of Lamentations) and often had them kicked out, captured or punished as a result of sin/ impiety.
That’s a far cry from John Hagee and his ilk.
Also, would those evangelicals count Jerry Seinfeld, Joan Rivers, Mel Brooks, Howard Stern, Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Bernie Sanders etc as being Gods chosen people in spite of the impiety and sinfulness of them generally?

I grew up Christian but I have been out of the circuit for many years for my own personal reasons however, I kindly need answers on Christian Zionism.
What is Christian Zionism and how is it different than Jewish Zionism? I'm having a hard time connecting the dots of why would Christians value a land that 1) doesn't acknowledge their savior and 2) per what I was taught, the Jewish leaders were the ones who got the Romans to execute Jesus.
Can somebody please help me understand their views/mission? Maybe it goes beyond the land?

wishing I had more time for this response bc I have a lot of thoughts on this, but here is my shit brief response: jewish zionism (a broad umbrella) is about self-determination and a homeland for the jewish people. the modern movement towards a land in israel emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. my understanding is that it was foregrounded in some understandings of jewish religion thanks to the diasporic history of the jewish people, but zionism itself is not an inherently religious movement and it is possible to be jewish and not a zionist. its modern political iteration was catalysed by rising antisemitism in europe (russia as one prominent example). there are various flavours of zionism where some ascribe it as a right to self-determination and homeland, whereas other groups like kahanists are far more extreme with a focus on ethnicity that manifests in a hateful way. I am pointing out this disparity to illustrate the variety of views. christian zionism by contrast emerged against the backdrop of movements like british israelism, with british gentiles asserting (as a surprising number of groups have!) that they were descended from a jewish ‘lost tribe’. it appealed to some dodgy ideas around racial supremacy. the idea of restoration to the ‘holy land’ was sort of an extension of imperialist ideas at the time. these ideas blended with concepts from certain protestant groups who developed the idea that restoration of jews to the holy land would fulfil a biblical prophecy, a desirable thing for those christians. the thing is, they also believe that fulfilment of this prophecy will lead to conversion of the jews, so it is an inherently supersessionist and antisemitic ideology. it doesn’t come from concern for jews necessarily but is more about self-interest, although I guess one could argue that they see the ‘saving of souls’ as beneficial 🥴 certain evangelical groups go hard on the christian zionism in part because of their millenarian focus.
