Maybe they're certified for different regions, e.g. they couldn't use the US models in Taiwan because they were only certified for the US regulation bodies. Electrically they're probably compatible or even the same. More on reddit.com

How to Get Around in Taiwan
Taiwan’s extensive railway network is a joy to ride, even though it can be challenging at times to overcome the language barrier. Regular trains cover most major destinations around the country, while ultra-modern high-speed services zip passengers between big cities at breakneck speed. · Taiwanese coaches are often cheaper, quicker, and more convenient than the trains, yet aren’t as interesting nor as fun. · Flying domestically won’t save much time, expect for those heading to the smaller islands.

r/taiwan on Reddit: Money? Plug adapters?
May 8, 2023 -

Hello,

Travelling to Taiwan soon from Canada. I'm reading conflicting information about whether I need to bring a travel adapter for laptops, phone chargers, appliances, etc. Are the outlets exactly the same as what we have here in Canada?

Also, will I be okay if I just bring my VISA credit card? Or do I really need cash, like in TWD or USD? If so, which? I'm travelling for a conference, so I suspect I'll be in a somewhat insular environment -- not backpacking across the lands or anything like that.

r/taiwan on Reddit: I just want to confirm if can use US plugs in Taiwan?
February 3, 2015 -

I am reading this article here and I just want to confirm with some people in the know if I am interrupting this correctly. But, what I am reading is the the US and Taiwan have the same plugs and voltage.

You can use your electric appliances in Taiwan, if the standard voltage in your country is in between 110V and 127V (as in the US, Canada and most South American countries).
