Marihuana is used as an intoxicant, just as alcohol and meat in tantric worship. The preparation an consecration of a drink made with cannabis is one of the first rituals and forms part of the consecration of the sadhaka. r/hinduism on Reddit: Is is true that the practice of offering 'Datura' flower to Lord Shiva isn't mentioned in our scriptures?
October 9, 2023 -
So what happened today was that my botany teacher was teaching us a chapter called 'Flowering Plants', during which he claimed that Datura, which is commonly used as an offering to Lord Shiva, is actually not even mentioned in our scriptures.
He said there's no evidence of any such practice in the Shiv purana, and then proceeded to equate it with 'wrong number' of the movie PK. He said that this why it is so easy to fool Indians in the name of religion.
What do you guys think? Was he right? Is this practice really a superstition/wrong no.?

April 22, 2024 - Varanasi and bhang can be said in one breath. I have seen it being offered with datura flowers (Datura stramonium) to the Lord of the City in the temple adjoining the haveli where we would often stay during our visits to Varanasi.
