Can someone please help me understand this joke about Jewish cats?
This joke sucks lmao. It's not as much a Hebrew joke as it is a Jewish one. Priests must be kept ritually pure to serve in the Temple. (They can't come in contact with a dead body, for example.) The Torah allots the Priests the best portions of some of the sacrifices for them and their families to eat. I guess that's where the joke comes in. I'm guessing the joke is comparing the pampered and spoiled nature of cats with priests in the Temple. The Hebrew abbreviation כ''ט can indeed mean 29 using a certain numbering system found in religious and old Hebrew works. It could also, theoretically, be an acronym for כהן טהור but that would depend on the context (in this case it does). More on reddit.com

Is this not wrong?
They made a mistake, חתולות is the correct word when referring to plural female cats. If it’s a group of male cats, OR a mix of males and females, חתולים would be correct More on reddit.com

What is the Hebrew word for 'cat' and why is there a difference between modern and biblical Hebrew? - Quora
