Genuinely sick and tired of people making anything about freeing Palestine.
It's everywhere. Crochet online groups? They're posting flags of Palestinine. Discussion group for unrelated TV shows? Yep. Autism support groups? It's very bad there. In the workplace? It's there, too. I lost friends over it. It's everywhere and it's exhausting. I'm not even Jewish and I feel this way. I can't imagine what it must be like for you. Sending hugs. More on reddit.com

r/Jewish on Reddit: When people say "Free Palestine" - what does that mean?
December 10, 2024 -
Is it antisemitic? I know that "Free Palestine" was one of the chants used by the 10/7 murderers during the massacre, so does that add a new antisemitic meaning? Is that even new, has it always been antisemitic? Surely they don't mean to free Palestine from Hamas, even though that's universally more appropriate. I feel like unless one means "from Hamas," it's a really dumb thing to say. Am I wrong? It's so vague. I mean... from what?
EDIT: Thank you all for the wonderful discussion and information. I guess now when I see someone say that, I'll have to ask which way they meant it.

"Free Palestine" is essentially a meaningless phrase because of how varied its usage is. To people like Hamas, it means kill all the Jews and establish an Islamic-supremacy state in all of Israel/Palestine. To most encampment leftists, it means end the "apartheid" and create one secular state called Palestine with equal rights for everybody. To more moderate pro-Palestine people, it means free the West Bank and Gaza for a two state solution. The one unifying factor here is that all of these people think that the Palestinians should no longer live under Israeli control, but the specific way in which they should break free from that control varies depending on who you are talking to. It is also worth noting that there are also more pro-Israel people who don't think Palestinians should continue living under Israeli control (e.g. Israeli believers in two states), but they probably would never say "Free Palestine" because this phrase implies Israel is almost if not completely at fault for the occupation and blockade. People who blame Palestine or both sides for the occupation and blockade may still believe Palestinians should be free, but they won't say "Free Palestine" because it does not just imply what you want the solution to be, but the reason for why we have yet to achieve that solution.

I think most people on this sub will see it ad antisemitic, personally I think the meaning highly depends on the person saying it, which is part of the problem. Everyone defines it differently.

Imagining a Free Palestine
February 24, 2026 - This realization was solidified in the countless marches, protests, and sit-ins that so many have attended since the beginning of the ongoing onslaught, which has killed at least 33,000. Most notably, I felt a shift in the Palestinian future after the Washington, D.C. protest in November of 2023, the largest in the history of the United States in support of a free Palestine.
