April 29, 2025 - The incident only reinforced John Hancock opposition to the Townsend, Tea and Stamp Acts which led to the Boston Tea Party and the American Revolution. Although some alleged that Hancock was upset with George Washington for not nominating him for a military appointment, he and Washington had a very amicable relationship. Proof is the naming of Hancock’s only son, John Hancock.

My 401K provider is John Hancock
Yea they are a pretty horrible provider for 401k, my understanding is a lot of small businesses choose them because they don't charge the business many fees directly to administer the 401k and make it up by offering high expense ratio funds . However you should be able to log on and update your fund selection If I remember right they do have a S&P500 index fund with an expense ratio of 0.5% what is probably their best fund. Fraud from John Hancock HELP
Is this a John Hancock 401k plan? If so, fraud/theft may not be the reason. Did you log in to find a $0 balance or do you have some sort of evidence there was fraud involved? Have you verified that the 401k plan didn’t just move to another provider? Because that is WAY MORE common than accounts being pillaged due to identity fraud. When someone wants to distribute all of a 401k plan the company takes steps to verify their identity. In addition the transfer has to be made to an account with the same name. Talk to your HR department in the morning, ask about the 401k plan and where it is located. Call John Hancock and ask about the transfer. More on reddit.com

John Hancock: a Patriot of Fascinating Contradictions — Harvard University Press
I was fascinated by the fact that most Americans know the name John Hancock, but few realize how popular and impactful he was in the eighteenth century. He was only rivaled in notoriety by Benjamin Franklin and George Washington. Hancock is intriguing because he was a man of contradictions.
