Folks, I have an old Oppo that has been in a box unused for years; I loved this thing back in the day, used it for SACD and multichannel analog audio - well took it out and I can’t get the tray to open; I have heard there is a way to open the tray manually “from the bottom” but I have no idea how to do that, can anyone help me?

The tray issue can be fixed. OPPO was repairing them but it required shipping the unit back them. They just replace the drive to correct the issue.

January 11, 2022 - Are you selling the BDP-83 ? ... I just bought a bdp83 in good condition today as my cdt+ Bluray player. Hdmi goes to my avr and coax goes to my dedicated external dac denafrips ares2. As of now, I am comparing it currently against a dedicated cd player from denon...i cant see any great difference between both as transport. Denon is connected on optical and oppo is connected on coaxial.

June 3, 2009 - A couple points to add (for those of us with an audiophile slant )... -The BDP-83 actually uses different DAC's for two-channel Cirrus CS4398 vs. multi-channel Cirrus CS4382A analog output. The two-channel DAC is the higher quality chip, and compares favorably to my Benchmark DAC-1 for Redbook CD playback (with the Benchmark yielding a tad cleaner bass and overall detail). -Oppo also (smartly, as in the 980H model) includes a "pure audio" option (via the remote), which turns off all extraneous video circuitry to minimize noise during pure stereo playback.
