The most haunted room in Burg Eltz is the Countess Room, which belonged to Agnes. The room still contains the armor she wore when she died and the battle-axe. Castle staff say Agnes also haunts the hallways, turning lights on and off and opening locked doors in the middle of the night.

July 7, 2026 - Burg Eltz is open to the public and it’s well worth the visit. The castle has a very nice treasure room full of golden, silver, ivory and China items and there’s a lot of historical weapons as well. And perhaps you’ll run into Agnes while you’re there. March 22, 2018 - It is still owned by the Eltz family that lived there in the 12th century, 33 generations ago. They say castle Eltz is haunted by Agnes Eltz the daughter of Count Eltz, they lived in Eltz castle centuries ago.

Her bed, breastplate, and battle-axe remain in the room, and according to legend, she still haunts the German castle because she died defending them from her "unwanted" suitors.

June 10, 2019 - It was built in the 12th century and is still owned by the Eltz family, 33 generations later. While most of the general information about the castle is on the internet, there was one story about the castle that really intrigued me. It was shrouded in mystery, and information was hard to obtain… and that was the haunting of Eltz Castle.
