February 21, 2026Recommended way to generate a possibly large PDF
Let me recommend the QuestPDF library , an open-source and free for commercial use project. Unlike HTML-to-PDF converters, it is not as resource demanding. Instead, it implements its own layout engine that is optimized to cover all paging-related requirements. Everything is programmed in code, using Fluent API and pure C#. The standard performance test in QuestPDF generates document over 3500 pages long. Looks like it shouldn't have any problems with your use-case. Unfortunatelly, generating PDF is not a linear task. Depending on the content, it may take a couple of seconds per document. I am the author of this library 😁 More on reddit.com
