Basal Body Temperature: Family Planning Method

Apple Watch for BBT?
I am currently running tempdrop, oral thermometer, and Apple Watch out of curiosity. I haven’t had a full cycle with all 3, but will post here when I do! So far when I was in my luteal phase my Apple Watch temps stayed high (“above baseline”) and my temps are lower now (“below baseline”) but the day of a temp shift hasn’t as clear as the other 2 methods (the temps are pretty jumpy). Basal thermometers - What am I doing?
The best advice is to read Taking Charge of Your Fertility - it's like the bible of temping! Use FertilityFriend and it'll do all the analyzing for you while you figure things out. You just need to get in the habit of taking your temperature. Leave your thermometer on your bedside table. Alarm goes off, reach for it, stick it in your mouth and wait. Once it beeps you can get up and go about your day! Until you've figured out the basics, try to be really precise with your temping. So wake up at the same time every day. I have to get up at 5.45am for work, so I still temp at that time at the weekend too. The first few weeks were rough, but now I can just fall back to sleep afterwards. Good luck! More on reddit.com

Does basal body temperature rise after implantation?
There’s no evidence to suggest that your BBT will rise after implantation, which is when a fertilized egg burrows into the wall of your uterus. Measuring your BBT is, therefore, not a reliable way to tell if you’re pregnant.

You can measure BBT by putting the thermometer in your mouth or your bottom (rectum) — however, most people (understandably) choose the former.

Basal body temperature as a biomarker of healthy aging - PMC
Sources of individual variation are unclear, but limited evidence indicates that the level and variation in amplitude of body temperature decline in late life, possibly due to lower activity, shorter sleep cycle, and/or chronic disease and/or its treatment (Weinert 2010). Studies of active well elderly however do not observe a lower amplitude (Gubin et al. 2006), and sex-related differences may reflect dissimilar physical activity behavior (Gubin et al. 2006). It is thought that the nadir best reflects the basal set point (Kelly 2006) which, in turn, may best reflect health-related attributes as both caloric restriction and athletic conditioning (Shvartz et al.
