Every time I walk past the Golden Fleece there’s a sign about it being York’s most haunted pub. I know it’s got loads of history and ghost stories attached to it, but has anyone here genuinely experienced anything there? or is it just part of the whole haunted York vibe to keep the tourists interested?

My view is that it is just as haunted as anywhere else. I.e. not at all.

The Golden Fleece is a tourist attraction, and in my experience tourist places have the worst food! They said it’s the most haunted building in York. Fun-ish to have a pint in and I think I’ve eaten there before due to family and the food was forgettable. Like I literally can’t remember what it was, so I guess I got off lightly that it at least wasn’t so bad I can never forget it! More on reddit.com

The interior is superb, multi roomed ,great decor and furnishings including a cool looking serving bar and despite its relatively cramped interior lots of seating options,a really good looking pub indeed, established in 1503 the pub is allegedly haunted by the ghost of Lady Alice

Really neat little place. It's very old and and foundation is a little "wobbly". Seating is limited, order at the bar. We had the fish and chips and it was huge! Restrooms are very small. There are stories and newspaper clippings along the walls of the "haunting" stories. Fun place to stop in!
