I feel for the writer - the guy clearly is torn between wanting to gush about what FW has achieved - something no other current laptop maker offers (yes yes, I know about the T450P with socketed CPUs). But at the same time, they need to write for a generic audience that probably doesn't care as much about repairibility and the promise it holds. For that kind of an audience, they're going to look at FW and think "eh, so what".
And that seems to be the attitude of the folks writing in the comments. "Repairibility is overrated", says one. "You're going to keep needing new parts to keep it barely functional in 5 years, while a mac would last for 6-8 years", says them.
I genuinely don't know how to communicate the importance of repairable devices and open source software without sounding like the stereotypical Linux/Own-your-own-devices fanatic.

Having recently gotten the 11th Gen variant, the fact that they are bringing upgrade modules out so quickly gives me hope that I could just keep this chassis for a LONG time, especially since it is a machine for me to use at work only (only does word processing and web browsing currently, but needs a fair bit of RAM for the many cloud-based products I need to use via browser tabs given today's browsers).
Kudos to Frame.work, I'm loving mine so far.
