Surrendering to God’s will in life and death: Be not afraid - Catholic Times: Read Catholic News & Stories
November 12, 2024 - God loves us." I've adopted it too, because in the jumbled mess of my heart and prayers, it simply makes sense. Plus, it's easy to remember when I'm overwhelmed! Unkie Dan has taught me many things in my life. The importance of love, honesty and forgiveness are among the top five. During this tragic ordeal, though, I learned what it looks like to completely surrender to God's will with vulnerability, dignity and trust.

Surrender Accepting what cannot be changed, relinquishing control of the uncontrollable, is crucial work. Struggling and straining to be free of the suffering, we risk being consumed by it.
how do you actually surrender to God?
I believe that surrender is a life long process. I think as humans we want to surrender everything and we try to but our sinful natures end up either latching on to some things or we take some things back. Praise God that He is faithful even when we're not faithful. So to answer the question, we need God to change our hearts and as He changes our hearts, we become more faithful and surrender more of our lives to Him. God uses His word and the Holy Spirit to change us so a short answer to the question is to keep reading/studying your Bible everyday. More on reddit.com
How to surrender to God, and what it means
In order to be a Christian, you need to be Born Again. Being Born Again happens when we let Jesus become our Purpose for living. The term “Born Again” is comparable to a “second birth”. Just as we have a physical birth, when we come to a saving Faith in Christ and let Him be our Lord, we experience the second birth. That is what it means to be “Born Again”. https://www.gotquestions.org/born-again.html We accept our fallen condition as hell bound sinners, acknowledging that we are not good people, and we absolutely cannot do anything to reward ourselves Salvation. In Faith (trust in Jesus), we reach out to Him, and let Him take control of our lives. He becomes our Lord, Master, and Foundation. From there, we continue to build our lives and center our will to God’s infinite Will. In everything, we build our lives on Him through a relationship. To keep it going, we need to continually seek Him in Faith. GC101: The Gospel of Jesus Christ https://youtu.be/vrnHccCBR0A When it comes to understanding God’s Will, don’t expect to hear an audible voice. Don’t rely on signs. And DON’T rely on feelings. Instead, expect to have a thought or conviction enter your heart or mind. God tends to speak to us in quieter ways. God directly speaks to us through His Word (the Bible). From there, we can recognize His guidance in our consciences or our circumstances. The purpose reading the Bible is to compare our thoughts to the teachings of scripture. If the thought, desire, or idea doesn’t agree with Biblical principles, it’s worthy of rejection. It’s CRITICAL to study and understand God’s Word daily. Without it, we wouldn’t be able to know what God’s Will is. Even worse, we will think a thought is from God, when it really isn’t. Our purpose for reading the Bible is to understand God’s Will, by applying these Biblical teachings to our lives. And the more we do this, the easier it will be to detect God’s conviction. https://www.gotquestions.org/know-God-will.html https://www.gotquestions.org/hearing-God.html Improving your Prayer Life: https://youtu.be/eGqQKmvN8T0?si=7dpR6DJkJsMLpL99 More on reddit.com
What do you do when life feels completely meaningless?
I know what you mean. It's easy to feel like everything is pointless in the grand scheme of things. I think that's why people are drawn to accumulating money and material things in order to make it feel like they're moving towards a goal and accomplishing something, eventhough these things ultimately lose meaning. I try to lean more towards living with gratitude. The ability to breathe, walk, think and function on my own is a miracle. The body is so complicated and works with such precision to allow for various thoughts and actions simultaneously. When you see your own existence as a miracle and that your body is a vehicle to allow you to experience the environment and the nuances of life, you start to feel energy and abundance in everything. Every bit of energy matters in this universe and I believe the experiences we have while on Earth will ultimately matter when we move on after physical death. We affect others in our lives whether we realize it or not (humans, animals, plants, insects... all living things). That is what makes life worth living. More on reddit.com

What does the Bible say about coping/dealing with a terminal illness? | GotQuestions.org
January 18, 2012 - Scripture teaches us to offer our bodies as living sacrifices (Romans 12:1). In fact, “dying to self” is a requirement for those who seek to follow Jesus Christ (Luke 14:27). This means we completely subordinate our desires to those of our Lord.

Does the Bible say anything about dealing with a terminal illness? - Compelling Truth
Our troubles here during this lifetime are nothing compared to our life with God throughout eternity (2 Corinthians 4:17–18). One day, we will receive a new body, completely free of disease and decay (1 Corinthians 15:20–23, 35–49; Revelation 21:4). A better future awaits. Jesus encouraged, "… in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). Use this terminal illness to "Set your house in order" (Isaiah 38:1).

How to pray for healing when the prognosis is grim - World Prayer Centre
September 30, 2025 - However, we tend to think differently about prayer in the face of terminal or chronic illness. Our initial response may be to desperately seek the Lord’s intervention, but as we come to terms with the diagnosis, questions about how to pray for healing—or whether to pray for it at all—become more complicated. If God is sovereign, and he has allowed this illness, am I submitting to his will if I desire and ask for healing?

September 30, 2025 - The race that terminally ill people are running — in bed they’re running — is not a race against wind or hills or heat or burning muscles; it’s a race against temptations that would make them doubt God’s goodness, God’s love. It’s a fight to stay restful and content in God through broken hips and cancer and lost sight and failed memory.

March 14, 2023 - It's like a window of opportunity to go to God and say, "I don't know what I am about to face or what I may have to endure because of this situation. It is not what I would have chosen, but it is here." Follow the example of Jesus and say, "‘Father, if it be thy will, take this cup from me.

June 23, 2019 - Oswald Chambers, in his classic devotional My Utmost for His Highest, describes surrendering to God’s will this way: True surrender is not simply surrender of our external life but surrender of our will— and once that is done, surrender is complete. The greatest crisis we ever face is the surrender of our will.

March 6, 2023 - But if we are truly asking for God’s will to be done, we’re praying that he takes care of it. One line from the Surrender Novena strikes me every time I pray through it: “I perform miracles in proportion to your full surrender to me and to your not thinking of yourselves. I sow treasure troves of graces when you are in deepest poverty.” · You might feel completely drained from worry about a certain situation or relationship.

August 11, 2015 - The Lord listened to his prayer, and 2 Kings 20:5 explains that Isaiah was told to “Turn back, and say to Hezekiah the leader of my people, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord,” I believe that this is an encouraging word for anyone who has been given a terminal diagnosis, because God can heal any disease.

August 10, 2016 - Right now, my faith is probably stronger than it’s ever been, because I’ve felt God’s presence through this experience. One California Assembly representative who is an evangelical Christian asked me if I prayed, asked me if I went to church, asked me about the law: “Isn’t this suicide?” · What opponents to medical aid in dying don’t understand is that suicide by people who wish to die is very different. The terminally ill wish to live.
