The title mostly says it all, I've been really into overlord from the anime, ainz ooal gown always seemed like a strong guild from whats been descibed but what confuses me is how they arn't the best, momonaga, while not having a meta build, is a brilliant stratagist and leader, the have touch me who was a world champion, they had 11 world items which to my knowledge is the most of any guild and they somehow defended a 1500 player raid. With all that in mind it seems weird that they arn't top 3 at least.
For the other question I don't understand how, despite other guilds being more powerful, they have the most world items by a land slide. Are they acctually easy to get if you have the right methods or did they just get lucky?
So I just started listening to the Overlord light novels on Audible since I'm too impatient to read the actual books and I got curious about the 8th floor. The narration of the book and the characters in the story make the 8th floor out to be some extremely dangerous and mysterious area, even though it's within their home. The guardian, Victim didn't leave the floor to pay his or her respects to Lord Ainz when the guardians gathered on the 6th floor, and then Ainz gave an order to lift the seal between the passage from the 7th and 9th floor and restricted anyone from entering the floor. Is something in the 8th floor dangerous to both enemy and ally alike? I don't really care for spoilers too much so feel free to answer fully! I really wanna learn more about what this mysterious 8th floor has to offer!

It was stated in the anime and somewhere in LN Vol.1 that the GToN (Great Tomb of Nazarick) was once raided by a coalition of YGDRASSIL players numbering around 1500 and ending with GToN's win. I was wondering if it there is something like a detailed storytelling of it in the LN. And if there is, by what volume will I expect it.
First of all, not native english speaker. So I'm sorry for any spelling mistakes.
Now, for the real thing. I've been watching the anime for a long time, but just recently started to read the Light Novels. And some questions began to rise.
Ainz's guild was supposed to be one of the top guilds before they all quit, but now it's ranked bellow 40's or something. Not much info is given regarding the ranking system when the servers shut down. So it surely means that there are other high-end guilds, and therefore other high-end players.
I don't think players that get to this kind of tier wouldn't be online by the time the servers shut down, so it is almost certain there may be some other players, or even entire guilds, of such level in the game.
Also, something got my attention in a special way, the fact that if the guild weapon is destroyed, the guild ceases to exist. Although there is no clear way of telling that the guild is still an active "magic" thing, Nazarick itself and all the NPCS's from it, are directly linked to the guild. So destroying the staff would maybe kill all the npcs and Nazarick be destroyed?
If any of these questions were answered further in the Light Novel (I'm currently in volume 1) please, do not explicitly spoil it. At least make it seem like speculation.
Their guild was not "the best" just one of the best. Guild item the staff itself is like a world item, so I highly doubt it's fragile enough to get broken easily.
Nazarick is basically impenetrable. In the past, Nazarick literally fought off a 1500 man raid without using its players because of the setup of Nazarick itself. The people that were part of the 1500 raid were all level 100 (I remember reading this somewhere so if I'm wrong sorry).
Let there be no mistakes, Nazarick and its highest level members are the most powerful beings in this world, they were literally a guild built around using real life money and all their spare time to getting more powerful. In the LN it's basically been stated that the guild was the best, but declined due to its members being inactive.
This is mostly a hypothetical question since both anime’s have VRMMORPGS. (Also this is when all of them are still just players in a game, and NOT them transporting as their characters from yggdrasil)
Like, completely defeat every NPC, every Floor Guardian, all the Pleiades and, most of all, Ainz?
Does it ever state anywhere what the weaknesses for a lot of the characters are? I know Entoma was weak against that insecticide spell Evileye had, and I think Ainz has some sort of weak resistance to fire. I could be misremembering that second one, though.
How can you kill or at least beat the Floor Guardians in a fight and survive? Could any of the NPCs or residents of Nazarick be persuaded to switch sides?
What would any country have to do to take on Nazarick and win?
I sometimes hear people debating or asking questions about whether they think Nazarick would be destroyed, or if Nazarik would destroy all human nations at the end of the series, but most of them just end up being dependent on people's gut feelings, but I think I found concrete proof that both Nazarik and at least one human country(Most likely Baharuth empire) would end up surviving till the series ends At the end of the second drama CD, The Dark Hero's Story, Torkel Monologues and says
"After that incident, I have recounted this tale to my children countless times. Just like how my father told me about the exploit of Andre. What I saw was a battle worthy of being labeled legendary. Listen well, children that will inherit the name pyorukenheimu. What I saw was the devastating fight of the hero momon. That great man, held two swords in each of his hands, and charged the giant basilisk like the wind."
This probably implies that even after several decades (probably 5~6 considering how old he sounded),
1.) Momon's identity was kept safe because Nazarik was never fully exposed.
2.) Torkel fled before Ainz destroyed Re-Estiz, went to another country, (Most likely Baharuth), and was kept safe
Of course, there could be other possibilities like Torkel being delusional at the end, Torkel actually living alone, Nazarick being destroyed without anyone in the public knowing, etc, but I think it is a pretty good theory, what do you guys think?
I am a big fan of overlord and also a big fan of CYOAs so when I stumbled across the old overlord Choa I wanted to write a fanfic about it. But I also want to make sure the assumptions I have about the guilds actual power is roughly accurate. So I will just list some facts, some interpretations and questions I have, feel free to correct me if I am wrong, I want the fic to at least be somewhat accurate to the source.
First. What is the actually makes aniz opal gown stand out as a guild? It is a heterotroph guild who is known for having a formidable base and many world items I suppose but am I missing something else?
Second. why is nazarick special compared to other guild bases, if you go to its fundamental roots it’s just a dungeon that was claimed by aniz. And it was a dungeon recommended for lvl 80 plus players so realistically the bosses can’t be anything close to say a world boss so the 8th lvl guardians would just be bosses for 80th level plus players right? So would another guild who claimed a level 80 dungeon also be equal in defensive prowess? There is also a special one in one realm dungeon that offers 3000 npc levels if claimed as a guild base while nazarick only offers 2200(tho aniz got 2750 as they cleared it first try). Wouldn’t that be a higher level and more formidable base?
Third. I will be assuming Rubedo and the five others on the 8th level are roundly equal. This is because when I looked them up, the paragraph describing them contradicts itself by saying Rubedo can’t even beat one of the five and then saying they require world items and cooperation to beat Rubedo. Is there any more clear source?
4. I assume the victory against the 1500 players was due to a combination of friendly fire being off, victim’s death effect catching them all by surprise and panic amongst players. For my reasons:
The author has said if a world enemy appears, it would be a threat to the whole guild including players and npc. Therefore no entity in nazarick is world enemy level, which would likely be required to actually kill that many players, especially the level 100s, in fair combat.
Victim’s skill seems to be it can inflict status effects upon death likely paralysis or debuffs. And since it was the first raid that made it to lvl 8 they would not be able to anticipate his skill.
Upon realising they were paralysed, debuffed and being attacked by what amounts to 6 raid bosses, the already damaged players panicked, routed and maybe further injured each other in the confusion(since friendly fire is off if there are more than 30 peeps) or out of spite(toxic gamers).
Basically, due to the fact that the five and Rubedo are basically supposed to be lvl 80 plus raid bosses which a small guild(aniz itself) had beaten on their own in one go, I really doubt they could kill the 1200 players that reached the 8th floor on their own. But I can believe that they could finish off a bunch of panicked, confused and debuffed players who had friendly fire off. Because I am sure we all know what happens when a mmo raid goes slightly wrong and friendly fire is off. Is this a fair assumption?
Five. Aniz ooal gown is ranked as the 9th best guild in the game while momonga said the top ranked guild is seraphim. Any clue what this ranking could be based on? I would assume something like raid bosses cleared, guild wars won or PVE progress since most mmo guild ranking are based on similar criteria.
Six. Touch me is the 3rd most skilled world champion at pvp. The wiki says he the 3rd most powerful player but since it then proceeds to rank world champions I assume he is more accurately the third most powerful world champion. It then says touch me could defeat the floor guardians by himself except Rubedo. But it’s also weird ambiguously so does it mean he can defeat them all at once or in duels? Because I would assume it means one on one he can defeat all of them
Lastly, I saw on the wiki and literally no where else that the odds of touch me beating Rubedo is 3:7 like momonga an odds of defeating shelter. Did someone make this up or is it in a source somewhere?
