Semisynthetic Quercetin Derivatives with Potent Antitumor Activity in Colon Carcinoma | ACS Omega
The application of quercetin in the pharmaceutical field is limited due to its poor bioavailability resulting from poor water solubility and poor permeability. We report a systematic chemical modification of quercetin toward the development of semisynthetic derivatives through a selective synthetic methodology, which enables the installation of different substitutions at C-3′ and C-5 positions of quercetin.

Characterization of Quercetin Derivatives in Crossing Combination of Habanero White and Capsicum annuum Peppers and of Anti-Inflammatory and Cytotoxic Activity
June 24, 2021 - In this work, an HPLC-MS/MS investigation on the derivatives of quercetin in a methanolic extract of peppers deriving from an original crossing combination between Habanero white and Capsicum annuum revealed the occurrence of nine glycoconjugates, either monosaccharide, disaccharide or trisaccharide, as well as an acylated disaccharidic derivative (i.e., quercetin rhamnoside-(feruloyl-hexoside)).

Effects of Functional Groups and Sugar Composition of Quercetin Derivatives on Their Radical Scavenging Properties | Journal of Natural Products
The aim of this study was to investigate the structure–activity relationships of quercetin derivatives, with a focus on the influence of functional groups and sugar composition on their antioxidant capacity. A series of quercetin derivatives were therefore prepared and assessed for their DPPH radical scavenging properties.

Design, Synthesis and Antitumor Activity of Quercetin Derivatives Containing a Quinoline Moiety - PMC
The phenolic hydroxyl groups of the A and B rings of quercetin play an important role in anti-oxidation [17]. The C ring contains enol and ketone structures, which gives quercetin some special biological activities. The derivatives obtained by modifying different groups have different biological activities and efficacies [18]. 3-OH is the unique hydroxyl group of quercetin, and in this study, chemical modifications are carried out at this position.

Focus on the high therapeutic potentials of quercetin and its derivatives - PMC
They are present in all parts of higher plants: roots, stems, leaves, fruits, seeds, wood, pollen and also in certain derived beverages and fodder (Urquiaga and Leighton, 2000; Verhoeyen et al., 2002). They can be subdivided into subclasses according to the structure of the heterocycle C: flavones; isoflavones; flavonols; flavanones; flavanols; proanthocyanidins; anthocyanidins; anthocyanins; chalcones/dihydrochalcones (Crozier et al., 2009). Quercetin is a flavonoid belonging to the flavonol subfamily, and it is one of the most studied polyphenols because of its numerous biological activities.
