I’ve seen Spotted and Cross Orb Weavers here, not familiar with this one.
Does this type of spider exist in the Southern California high desert? I wouldn't mind having a couple around, but mostly we get garden spiders or black widows.
I've seldom seen any kind of spider living out in the desert patches surrounding the area where I live. Interesting webs that cover plants like a fine white mist are in the shrubs around my house and webs stretching from bottom sides of shrubs and plants stretch down to the sidewalk in public places. They can be hard to see but the dog detects them if he walks too

We found this spider in our front yard yesterday. We took some pictures then left it alone. It was still on the same rose bush today and it has quite the web going on. We think it is an orb weaver, but just wanted to know for sure. Thank you in advance!
P.S. we live in Northern California
I’ve lived here my whole life and almost every year around this time the giant orange spiders come out making their huge webs.
Anyone know what kind of spider it is?
Huge, amazing webs. I took a photo of this one, then a palm tree dropped a small piece of debris. Spider removed and chucked it from its web and repaired it. Then went back to hang out in the center. I know hardly anything about spiders, but guessing an orbweaver?
Southern California
Sorry the low quality photo. It was in someone’s yard and I couldn’t get any closer.
