Google has entirely let me down on any search results relating to this subject. Ideally graphs over time and broken up by white collar and blue collar workers.
I’m curious if there is any correlation between this statistic and the decreasing wage growth the US has seen over the last 50 years.
Also I know that publicly traded companies make up less than 1% of US companies but that doesn’t account for the percentage of employees, Walmart alone employs 1.6 million people in the US or 1% of the total US workforce.

I just threw a quick search through NBER and pulled this up. Publicly traded companies constitute less than 1 percent of all U.S. firms and about one-third of U.S. employment in the non-farm business sector.
