In a few years, this elegant residence in the south of the Vienne has acquired the reputation of "the most haunted castle in France", receiving countless mediums, ghost hunters and other film crews. Here time does not count, it was frozen centuries ago. People come from all over France and even from abroad to spend the night in the little girl's room, the bailiff's room or the portrait's room, in the hope of making contact with the deceased.

9 Eminently Haunted Places In Paris
October 21, 2022 - Although it is a bit away from central Paris, this is by far my favorite "haunted" spot of the capital. With its 70 or so funeral monuments, this could easily be one of the more scary places in Paris. But that's not all. In addition to all the monuments and statues, the basilica also contains the tombs of 43 kings, 32 queens, and 10 servants. Saint-Denis is known as the cemetery of kings, because many of France's greatest monarchs – from Dagobert to François I to Louis XIV – are buried here (or at least part of them are – many graves were raided during the French Revolution and the remains thrown into mass graves, but when the monarchy was briefly restored, efforts were made to gather the remnants and re-bury them here).

I know in Japan there is a well-known urban legend known as 口裂け女 (Femme à la bouche fendue) mainly depicted as an evil entity in Japanese folklore, often carrying a pair of scissors.
On the other hand, are there any French horror films that are actually scary? Are there any places in France that are haunted? Have any real instances of ghost/demon encounters been documented on French TV while discussing the subject?

There is the White Lady. I don't remember where in France. But you pick up a Lady in a White dress on the road, and after a while she will scream really loud in a..."turning point" (sry i don't know the word) and you will escape a real accident and she will disappear. I think this is the most known ghost story in France.

Mon Dieu! These Are the Most Haunted Châteaux in France
September 1, 2022 - From crimes of passion to curses and even a ghoulish horse, see what haunts the halls of these storied Châteaux. Where there is a crumbling old château, there must also be a pilfering poltergeist, sinister specter, or perhaps even the ghost of a decapitated Marie Antoinette roaming the hallowed hallways. There are over 40,000 châteaux in France, many of which have endured a colorful history of revolution, religious conflicts, and wars that lasted up to a hundred years, so is it any wonder that there are more than a couple of ghosts lurking in these turreted towers?

January 3, 2024 - Nestled in the heart of Dordogne, not far from the spectacular medieval town of Sarlat-la-Canéda, this stunning castle dates back to the 13th century, and its magnitude and sheer beauty wouldn’t look out of place in a book of fairy tales.
