Do better and learn about how supply chains work for products that are on the verge of being replaced. Bottom line, there is no way Apple caps a pro level machine at 256 GB especially when they're leaning hard into using the MXU Studios for local AI models by sending maxed out M3Us to AI influencers to drive up demand ahead of the M5U debut...

April 30, 2026 - Never said anything about not selling desktops - clearly there's going to be shortages - but there's no point trying to overextend the supply chain just to cater for desktops when there's more profit to be made from laptops ... They don't want to raise prices so they temporarily ditched the high-RAM models hoping the RAM crisis ends soon. Not for a minute am I buying this "home LLM" nonsense. ... Refurbished minis were a dime a dozen in various configurations last fall when I got my M4 Pro, now they literally stay on the refurb store less than a an hour or two. Refurbished studios are gone even faster.

March 4, 2026 - It just makes sense that this should work in case you go this route: TB5 capable Mac -> new TB5 Studio display -> old TB3 Studio display Thunderbolt is backwards compatible, meaning you can daisy chain any TB device to be the last in the chain. This can also be a Dock, an SSD or any other TB device. Chances seem pretty high that this will work. There might be a limit with the new XDR as it will use more bandwidth, leaving less throughput for daisy chained devices.
