Feel like this is a recent bug/issue I saw in the last few days (or week).

• Apply an Auto Filter to data.

• Select a few filter criteria on some columns. - and then here the data gets filtered/subset based on the filter criteria.

• Go to Data->Auto Filter->Reset Filter - all the data rows reappear, however the same filter criteria appear to be active on the columns filtered previously.

  • Click the columns, and see that the criteria is still active. But remember, all the data is now showing.

• Go to another column and try to apply a new filter - can't do that because that column's filter criteria are filtered based on the previously applied criteria.

• So to reset filter - go to each column manually and select All filter criteria.

Hope I explained it clearly.

Did I accidentally flip some setting or switch? Or has anyone else noticed this as well?

EDIT: Kind related to this, I notice my Auto Filter gets really slow above 1000 rows or so of data. Anything I can change? I'm on Ubuntu 18.04, LibreOffice version 6.3.0.4

dont comment the file format cause my college data is in .ods format

I'm using LibreCalc (Version: 6.4.6.2Build ID: 1:6.4.6-0ubuntu0.20.04.1CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.8; UI render: default; VCL: x11; Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-USCalc: threaded), and I have an ODS spreadsheet that hangs / freezes every time I use the filters in the header row. For example, I will filter for a value, then the sheet will hang / freeze (unable to scroll, select a cell, etc.) for about 20 to 30 seconds, and then it's OK. Also, when I reset the filters, the sheet hangs again for a bit before I can continue working. Is there something I can do to try and fix this?

I started making a spreadsheet and applied an auto filter to one column. Then I realised there was another column of information I wanted to add and suddenly there's no insert before or after button in the column right click menu.

As far as I understand this is because of the filtering. Except I can't get rid of it. I can unclick the auto filter check box which removes the results of the filtering and the down arrow icon on the column, but does not restore the function and seems to in some way retain the auto filtering because when you click to apply an auto filter again, it remembers the options that were checked last time the auto filter was applied and re-applies them which suggests the filter is still "there" in some way. I can click data > more filters and I hoped to click "reset filters" but it's greyed out.

I did some performance testing on a fairly large spreadsheet in December 2020 (220K rows) on my Linux desktop. When I repeat that with 7.2 RC1, the performance improvements delta to 7.0 are so dramatic that the 7.2 release is the first time there has been an open source spreadsheet viable for complex and large spreadsheets, at least on Linux and for my definition of large and complex spreadsheets. I am not concerned here about compatibility, because table stakes is just being able to do typical day to day things on large spreadsheets, and previously LO couldn't get a seat at the table. In any case, Calc compatibility has been pretty good for a long time.

LibreOffice 7.0 was a pretty dismal experience. Opening was slow, filtering was slow, and deletion of around 60K rows was almost unusable. Excel under Crossover was dramatically better. WPS Office was also better.

I repeated the testing again for 7.2RC1. The improvements are amazing. In some cases, such as opening, LO is now faster than Excel under wine. The only task I tested which is still slow is undoing the 60K rows deletion, the other steps are now competitive. I also did not have a single crash in LO (or in Crossover which is testament to how good Wine has become).

I read that increasing memory may improve it but also that the memory setting has been removed from LibreOffice 6.0. Calc is slow with large databases.

What to do about it? I already disabled Java.

Dear all, I have a large spreadsheet with columns for occurrence reports for 2 departments. Some are classified and some are open and communicated with staff once a month. Unfortunatly the layout is not optimal and I would like to filter and transpose data to make it easier.

The challenge is to filter out the confidential and split the 2 departments and not be left with empty lines.

How to best start this? My approach would be to create new sheets to first filter the data, per company but I dont know how to strip empty lines. Same goes for confidential and after transpose them to the desired layout.

I am using Calc 7.6.3.2 on Windows.

I want to remove duplicates in a column so I selected column A then clicked Data - Advanced Filter

I had to expand the options - which is a weird design choice since there are so few options. Then I clicked "No duplications".

The current selection (Column A) wasn't selected by default and clicking the Shrink (?) button didn't allow me to select the column.

It does let you select a range with your mouse but I have over 40k rows.

Is this really how it works in LibreOffice or am I missing something?

I'm used to automatically populate cells in a different sheet using Excel, but I'm trying to do the same in Lbre Calc.

I managed to come up with this monstrocity, which works, kinda...

If if fiddle with the main dataset too much, for some reason the output of this function completly breaks and just repeats the first retrieved value in all populated cells.

Is there a better way to make a array formula, filter or spill values to populate cells downwards?

Excuse the questions if it seems silly, but I'm really used to G suit, but at my new job, they've asked me to work in LibreOffice instead.

I'm trying to find and learn a functions in LibreOffice Calc that serves the same purpose as the FILTER function in Google Sheets.

To put it simply, the Filter function =FILTER(RANGE1, RANGE2=VALUE) returns the value from RANGE1 that is located in the corresponding position as the cell with VALUE in RANGE2.

For an example, I have 2 columns next to each other, simply called RANGE1 and RANGE2. RANGE1 has Colors (Red, Green, Blue). RANGE2 has the first letter in that color (R, G, B).

Next to it is the formula in one cell, and in place of VALUE, I have targeted a cell with the letter R in it, so the formula will return "Red".

LibreOffice Calc is always super slow.

Spreadsheet/file is almost empty. No formulas, just a few texts.

Clicking from a cell to another and other actions takes like half a second (which is extremely slow for a software UI).

Using LibreOffice 25.2.0.3 , OS is Windows 11 Pro.

I have not used other LibreOffice software recently so I don't know it it's only Calc.

Is this a know issue, can it be fixed ?

EDIT: So, solution found:

In Calc:

• I went to Tools > Options > View

• Unchecked "Use Skia for all rendering"

• (Already felt improvement)

• Unchecked "Use hardware acceleration"

• (Possibly felt further improvement)

• Calc feels more or less back to normal.

I have a mostly data spreadsheet (very few formulas) that likes to hang my computer.

I've got a decent setup, 8 cores and 10 gigs of RAM, running Ubuntu and Libre 5.1

I have the file in ODS format and its only about 20 MB

For whatever reason it only likes to use 2 cores, and it never maxes out my ram, the problem is that working in the file is never responsive and often hangs until I force kill Libre

Is there any way to improve performance? almost everything I find online is reducing dependencies and my file is almost all raw data

Hi folks,

Trouble running 15-100 function sheets. The function is simple, [=B21/B22-1] with percent format applied. The sheet below becomes unresponsive and slow. Scrolling skips lines, takes 1-2 seconds to move sheet. Etc. I think this is a relatively simple use case! So I don't understand is this is expected or not. I'm used to using excel for work and this behaviour is unusual to me.

I've tried turning off hardware acceleration. Multi threading is on. I've turned off anti-aliasing. I've tried to give it up to 4 gigs of ram using the expert user config. Don't know why these relatively simple formulas are choking the sheet.

Should I swap to R?

Love the concept of open source. Love offline apps. I've always been a huge fan of libreoffice writer. I'm getting more technical with data sets.

Is there any on-going development on new excel functions like: XLOOKUP, FILTER, SORT in LO Calc? When will they possibly be available? Also where can I find list of all functions in LO Calc?

I got a filtered table with a lot of data.

I filtered a colomn for a value and wanted to move all those entries to another colomn . (From E to F).

But when I hit cut and paste, I get the error that multiple selection is not allowed (probably because of the filtered rows).

If I cut and paste it one at a time, of course it works.

Is there a way to move the values to another coloum without writing a macro of some sort?

I have a few basic documents that I use via LibreOffice. The functionality of the program is not bad, especially after I disabled Auto-Save which would lag the document out every few minutes.

But, even simple functions like opening my spreadsheets takes remarkably long; like 15 seconds. Same with saving.

Why is this? Does anyone else experience this?

Side Note: I appreciate that it is free, so this is truly just a general question rather than a complaint.
