I had a rough year this year with lots of grief, loss, heartache and low mental health, so I want to see what everyone’s new years goals/resolutions are!
lets all put this year behind us wether it was good or bad and start fresh in 2026!
What were your new year's resolutions last year (did you achieve them) and what will they be for 2026?
[If you set new year's resolutions of course]
For me currently, my next goals are:
-Improve tight hamstrings and poor dorsiflexion (been doing weekly yoga for a year and have improved flexibility a lot except those 2 areas!)
-Improve my asthma
-Become a competent swimmer (managed to get to being able to breastroke 15m this year but struggling to get beyond that)
-Take up a form of art (watercolour, oil pastels etc)
-Learn tennis
-Consistently mouth tape for sleep
-Significantly improve my upper body strength
-Host more than 1 person for dinner at my home
-Drive to London
What’s your biggest priority in the coming year? What do you plan to discard?
With the New Year here, I’ve been reflecting on my goals and the tools or strategies I can use to make them happen. I’m curious to hear from you:
What are some of your top goals for this year?
What methods, tools, or systems are you using to plan and track your progress? (e.g., apps, journals, vision boards etc.).
How do you stay motivated and consistent throughout the year?
Whether it’s about health, career, relationships, or hobbies, I’d love to hear your insights and get inspired by your approaches!
Let’s make this year one to remember.
I love hearing other peoples goals for the upcoming year! I’m sick of writing down the same old same old lose weight or eat more veggies lol. Currently mine are to get my first Pap smear (I’m 26 and extremely afraid, yes I know it’s very important), paying off some debt, looking into therapy, etc. Let’s hear yours! :)
Write em here and refer back throughout 2024 to keep yourself on track!
I'm looking to create a New Year's Resolution for 2024 where I accomplish one "big thing" a month.
The criteria I'm using to define "accomplishment":
- It should be a new achievement, not something I've done before (e.g. half marathon won't count if I've already run one before)
- It should be a measurable goal with a measurable outcome. (e.g. it shouldn't be something like "learn to sew." Instead, it should be "sew a dress from scratch")
Possible ideas: run a race, read x number of books, be able to do the splits, create a painting from scratch, go on a date, etc.
Would love to hear some ideas from other women over 30!
Happy holidays everyone! Hope everyone had an amazing Christmas. I’m starting my new years goal planning and wondering what everyone else is doing for it! How are you deciding what to choose as new goals?
Hello! I want to make my New Year's Resolutions, but I always fail them within a week. I feel as though hearing about how you all succeeded might help me this next year.
My resolutions are to lessen my doom scrolling, figure out how to use Social Media to market myself, start my YouTube channel and post at least twice a month, work out, write more, and be less stressed.
Before 2025, I made a list of new year’s goals: study for two hours a day, exercise three times a week, go to bed before 12:00am…
These goals are great.
But sometimes, looking at this list, I can’t help but think: It’s all about what I should do.
It’s easy to forget that these goals are meant to make me better, not just obligations I have to fulfill...
I came across the idea of gentle goals this week, and I decided to rewrite the list with this approach.
I wanted it to reflect self-love, to remind myself all of the benefits for me:
Take care of the body: take yoga classes 1 - 2 times a week. I believe that the condition of the body and mind affect each other.
Read for 30 minutes daily: don’t compare myself to others who read more(don't FOMO, focus on my own pace.)
Reconnect with old friends: it feels a bit awkward to reach out to friends who I haven't contacted for a while. But I’ll take the initiative to reconnect with them this year.
Distance from toxic relationships: If a relationship is only about taking, I’ll give what I can, but I know other people’s growth is their responsibility.
Write a gratitude journal every weekend: note not only the kindness of others but also my own efforts and perseverance.
Reduce social media use: I want to break the habit of mindlessly opening my phone because it doesn’t help me relax or make me feel better.
Prioritize sleep: sleep isn’t a waste of time(!) (thinking it’s a waste makes me stay up late out of revenge…) And I'll stop calling it "rotting."
Eat more whole foods: I plan to do most grocery shopping on the weekend and learn simple oven recipes to make healthier meals for myself.
Adding a bit of self-love along the way to encourage long-term commitment :)
If so, what are they?
Personally, I think January is a silly time to make resolutions in the northern hemisphere and the only ones I manage to keep are fun ones, like reading challenges. What are your thoughts? Got any fun or bizarre resolutions/goals for 2025?
I wonder if you have any New Year's resolutions or goals, and what are they?
(If these are private goals that you don't want to share publicly, you can write what is the category of these goals)
Are you usually able to achieve your New Year's goals that you have decided to achieve? Do you feel like you're going to reach your goals in 2025? If not, what is the reason?
I never make New Year's goals. If I want to have a new goal then I don't need a specific time in year to start doing it. I just start doing it...
The same for the last 2-3 years: make smaller, positive changes in my life, and build/maintain consistency in those changes.
It's worked well so far. It's an easy resolution to keep and it's resulted in immense changes already.
Atomic Habits is well worth the read if you want a more structured approach.
What are your goals for the New Year? Mine are:
Bringing my startup to life.
Be an amazing parent and partner as my wife and I welcome our first child in May
Get stronger
I hear a lot of people talking about New Year's Resolutions in terms of setting goals for 2026, but for those of you who set resolutions for 2025 and completed them, let's take a moment to celebrate success.
I completed an associates degree in May, and hit my overall GPA goal.
I have about a mile and a half of swimming to do today and tomorrow, and then I will have completed 30 miles of swimming for the year.
There were a handful of resolutions I didn't complete for various reasons, but let's celebrate what we have to celebrate. What are yours?
Its the new year, time for a new years resolution for many of us. While they can be very helpful and useful its important to not jump into the deep end and hope to figure out how to swim from scratch. Its very tempting to say things like "I am going to fix my mental health by using exercise". We all fall into that trap or similar ones.
Setting yourself a goal is actually really difficult. Shit happens basically. Its still a good idea to set yourself a goal. Its more useful to set yourself a series of small goals rather than one big one. I work in IT and we often use SMART goals. Googles lovely AI search says they are
-
Specific: Clearly state what you want to achieve, who will do it, and when
-
Measurable: Include how you will measure progress and track your goal's success
-
Achievable: Ensure the goal is within your capabilities and that you have the skills to achieve it
-
Relevant: Make sure the goal aligns with your overall objectives and why you're setting it now
-
Time-bound: Set a realistic deadline for completion
Thinking like this makes it easier to set goals you can actually achieve. I would actually recommend getting rid of the Time-bound part for exercise in many cases unless it was something like "the date of my first marathon is..." type of goal. I think setting a goal to feel better mentally by a given time is very foolish. Shit happens a lot.
Please don't rush into making big resolutions this year. Think about things carefully. Then make lots of small resolutions that make sense and will help you.
For example, I grew up with my mom doing an entire detailed cleaning of our house - including donating old unused clothes, toys and gear. What’s something important to you for the start of the new year?
Maybe I can steal some! My big goal is to become financially independent from my parents before turning 21.
I started doing annual goals in 2023 and they have trwnsformed my life. Now i am more focused, but also comes the frustration of not fulfilling dome of them.
On the other hand is my wife, who doesn't buy the idea if resolutions. I can say she is also accomplished.
Which side are you?
