Not sure if this is okay to post but anyhow I'm based in Europe and I want to collect a few locations to my bucket list as I've never stayed in a "haunted" hotel but want to try it in the future. Reason I'm asking here is because you never know if it's just sponsored marketing when a place is on one of those "top 10 haunted locations" websites. So Im curious to hear it from the actual people that stayed in those hotels.

I went on my honeymoon to the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado (the hotel where Stephen King stayed and was inspired to write the Shining). It's supposedly very haunted. We stayed in a suite on the 4th floor, and the first day, we heard a ghost tour outside talking about our room as being one of the most haunted. We went on the ghost tour the next day, and they took us to one of the most haunted rooms in the hotel on the fourth floor--but it wasn't ours. The guide admitted they pick rooms of people not on the tour. That said, there was a big wedding party there that weekend, and the last night there these kids were running up and down the hall thundering and laughing all night. When we checked out in the morning, the guy asked, "How was your stay?" My wife of the time was pregnant and had a hard time sleeping because of the noise, so I said, "It was great--those kids in the hallway last night kept us up though." And like in every horror movie, the guy at the desk said, "But sir, we have no children staying at the Stanley Hotel." In retrospect, the wedding party probably had kids in the hotel (the Stanley famously doesn't allow kids in the hotel)--just the kids weren't on the guest list. But it was fun nonetheless. One thing about staying at the Stanley is it's right by Rocky Mountain National Park which is a huge, beautiful expanse of land full of things to do. Additionally, if you go at certain times of year like around Halloween, they have things like a haunted ball, and creepy ghost walks in the woods.

Stayed at quite a few. Queen Mary and the Stanley are probably the most famous. Honestly I think it's a marketing gimmick. But I really don't mind because the spots that claim to be haunted are typically historic and storied and that alone is enough for me to enjoy myself.
