US Space Force to get 'next level' tech to combat drones near Cape Canaveral launch sites | Space
December 12, 2025 - According to Breaking Defense, Chatman told attendees at the AI+ Space Summit in Washington, D.C. last week that Space Force is installing a new multi-million-dollar counter-UAS system at the Cape that will not only boost security forces' existing ability to track UAS, but also allow them to "engage those capabilities" when necessary. Chatman told Breaking Defense that, while security forces at the base currently have some ability to defeat drones in their airspace, the new system will offer "holistic coverage over the Cape, as opposed to pockets of coverage" that the base has today.

A web of sensors: How the US spots missiles and drones from Iran
March 23, 2026 - The warning signal from space is then received on the ground by systems known as the U.S. Space Force’s Joint Tactical Ground Stations. The signal is sent from space using secure satellite communications, received by these ground stations and then quickly distributed to other parts of the missile defense network. But satellites cannot do everything to detect and track missiles.

Space Force ramps up counter-drone defense at Cape Canaveral, Eastern Range - Breaking Defense
December 11, 2025 - Those space launches come on top of military missile tests and a tremendous amount of civilian air traffic, so both counter-drone tests and operational defenses must be carefully calibrated to jam only unauthorized drones, while not interfering with legitimate communication and navigation systems. “It’s a holistic look at everything that’s happened in the RF [radio frequency] environment to make sure that we protect and defend the Eastern Range, while not having second order effects that will impact other operations, [using] RF effectors that are deconflicted in the spectrum,” Chatman

Why Space Is Becoming A Critical Domain Of Modern Warfare
June 23, 2026 - Kristina Randall)U.S. Army 3rd Special Forces Group · The tactic coming to the fore of electronic warfare is GPS spoofing. Unmanned systems, particularly in the air and on the sea, function as self-driven patrols to provide reconnaissance. An effective way to render drones – or other types of military assets –useless without attacking directly is to disrupt their ability to communicate or feed them false information.
