January 9, 2026 - A historic restaurant renowned for its old-world atmosphere and authentic food has now re-emerged as a ghostly hot spot. Opened on February 6th, 1772 by a woman named Jane Vobe, this tavern is one of the oldest and most haunted in all of Virginia.

My nephew worked there a couple of years and he said that one night, while they were locking up the place, one of his coworkers came into the tavern and she said that her car had a flat tire. September 16, 2022 - A few months after her passing, the staff at Kings Arms Tavern began to sense that Erna could still very well be around. Odd cold spots would appear randomly throughout the tavern. Doors would sometimes open and close on their own. Windows left open to provide air circulation would be closed and latched by themselves.

September 5, 2025 - Bad Business While the Kings enjoyed their high social status, the company they kept in their tavern usually led more of a degenerate lifestyle. Being a port town, many expensive goods would flow in and out of Natchez on a frequent basis. This made it a prime target for outlaws to hold up the sailors and other travelers. After a night at the tavern, bandits would make their play on the inebriated tourists, oftentimes resulting in murder.

January 5, 2023 - The notorious outlaw, Wiley Harpe, is also believed to haunt the tavern, along with one of his victims. According to legend, a mother with a fussy infant was staying at the tavern’s inn.

In 1930 some of those exploits came to light when, during renovations, the fireplace was opened up, and the remains of three skeletons fell out! The woman was believed to have been the mistress of tavern owner, Richard King, the taverns' namesake, but the two men buried with her remain a mystery.

October 1, 2025 - Records show that Sam Mason and Little Harpe hit Yazoo and Walnut Hill (now Vicksburg) during their crime spree, so it's very possible that they ventured to Natchez to spend their ill-gotten gains at King's Tavern. Some believe their ghosts still haunt King's Tavern.
