March 19, 2021 - Can’t find a source to back this up right now, but I believe the building we now know as the art museum was also originally built with that same temporary plaster of Paris construction. Then when the city decided to keep the art museum after the World’s Fair, they tore it down, knowing it would soon start to crumble on its own, and rebuilt it in its current more permanent form.
