FAQ's - Property Taxes - Pennington County, South Dakota
Interest begins accruing on unpaid taxes starting the first business day after these deadlines, at the rate defined by SDCL 54-3-16. Taxes in South Dakota are paid one year in arrears (e.g., 2022 taxes are paid in 2023). Tax notices are mailed via the postal service after the State mill levies are set and the taxes are loaded. To receive your tax notice via email, click here to provide your email address. You will no longer receive a mailed copy. It is your responsibility to update your email with the County if it changes. Pennington County sends the Notice of Taxes due to all taxpayers of record, whether the taxes are remitted by you or by your mortgage company.
