I saw some comments about quartz quality. I have never been convinced of name brands, specially nowadays. I feel like everyone is cutting costs and the brand is just marketing.
Are there real differences between quartz makers? Is Cambria actually better equality than some Chinese stone? When I was shopping for counters (haven't pulled the trigger yet), the fabricator told me it's mostly design and marketing. He said in terms of stone durability it's all the same.
Does anyone have experience with brands and long term data? We are more concerned with durability than with the looks.

I’ve been cutting for 20+ years and can say it’s all cuts the same. All the brands have air pockets, crack, swirls on the deck. Cambria has a few unique and cool colors, but for the most part, it’s just the way it’s marketed that jacks that price way up. I’ve cut zodiac, hanstone, silestone, viatera, caesarstone and a few other brands. The best and most consistent that I have seen is vicostone. Not nearly as many slabs come with flaws, and I’ve cut quite a few of that brand over the last few years. If I had to recommend a quartz brand, that would be it. I also inspect every slab before cutting. I’ve found fish hooks embedded in Viatera brand a few times.

Besides the name brands… Cambria, CeaserStone, Hanstone, etc… most big suppliers buy from India, Thailand, Vietnam, etc… I have bought quartz from Spain, Brazil, and Taiwan also. All fab the same. It’s usually the white colors that have issues when they are really cheaply made. Not being able to seem because or color change. Can’t notice until they are next to each other and that’s after they are cut. Found this out the hard way and have had to sell 50-60 slabs without being able to have a seem. That really takes a while because almost every kitchen has at least one seem. So now I only buy from one company who is neither cheap nor expensive. And quality. With that said… why does everyone have quartz? I’ve been in the industry for over 10 years. Importing for 5+ years. And I don’t have any quartz in my house. I probably will never have any quartz. No “life” in quartz. All the natural stones have “life”. A story of millions of years from different countries. Even the ugliest colors have a story better than stamped out powder over and over in a factory. You can’t even have two natural slabs that look exactly the same. I believe it’s a fad and the $5-10k you spent on what everyone else has, you could have had a piece of the earth that nobody else has with a story. “Oh my new countertops… that’s called Pitaya… it’s from Brazil, kind of a sandstone, and the name is what they call Dragon Fruit”.

Most American 💩 is rebranded from China anyways.
I've not had any problems with the quartz dishes on my hybrid nails.

I got that D12 a few weeks ago, got the white dial one and it's absolutely stunning. Gorgeous crystal.
I also got the Escapement Time Flieger. Not the chrono, but the vh31 one with 4 ticks per sec.
I'm treating them as a set, both from WWII, both no-date-grab-n-go quartz.
