Sharing an open source project I've been building: SmartTube for iOS/macOS — a native

Swift YouTube client that blocks ads at the app level, not through a browser extension.

Why this exists: uBlock Origin can't run on iPhone. The official YouTube app can't be

patched without a jailbreak. This solves both problems natively.

How it works:

- Uses the InnerTube API directly, bypassing the ad-injected web player entirely

- SponsorBlock API integrated — auto-skips sponsors, intros, self-promos, interaction reminders

- DeArrow community titles and thumbnails

- Google OAuth sign-in — real subscriptions, history, playlists

- Zero tracking, no analytics, no third-party SDKs

- Up to 8K playback, Picture-in-Picture

- iPhone, iPad, appleTv and Mac — native Swift 6, fully auditable source

I know Yattee but I would like some closer to Smarttube, where I can use my google account and etc...

EDIT: The main features I miss are: always forcing the highest quality remembering the playback speed and changing it easily, lately when changing the playback speed YouTube reduces the resolution to 480p

I'm in love with SmartTube on my smart tv. I actually found out about it here on this sub and it is one of the best apps I've ever used. It has every option I can think of. I want something like it for my phone. I have NewPipe but it doesn't have a login option and the interface and menus and stuff are uncomfortable to navigate. I tried installing smarttube on my phone but it doesn't work properly. Unfortunately it seems to only work for tvs. Is there a similar app that I can use?

I’ve heard there are browser ad blockers and YouTube Premium blocks ads in the YouTube app.

But is there an IOS app that looks similar to YouTube, plays YouTube videos, yet does it without video ads?

Looking for something similar on IOS to “SmartTube on Android” or “an old IOS app called MusicTube”.

Anyone know of a current app which does this?

I keep getting many errors when watching YouTube using SmartTube.

I have uyou for iPad and iPhone and just love it. Wondeirng if there is something similar for tvOS as that YouTube app is just garbage. I've sideloaded Kodi to my AppleTV just fine so I'm surprised there isn't any decent YouTube replacements?

Tbf I only need to for music videos whilst in gym or just music, something that skips ads and can listen to music/videos whilst screen is off. Thank you
