3 days ago - Mary's" since the film "says that [it] is the true faith, feared by the Devil, and that its rituals can exorcise demons". A later historian has found that the Church was not as critical of the film as reports suggested, privately considering it faith-affirming. Authorities in predominantly Muslim Tunisia banned the film before its 1975 release there as "unjustified propaganda in favor of Christianity". In 2008, Colleen McDannell, editor of Catholics in the Movies, wrote that "The Exorcist is a horror movie that believes in its villain and, even worse, recruits its villain as a witness to Catholic truth."

r/movies on Reddit: In The Exorcist, what did the Devil/Pazuzu mean when he asked...?

Actually, when Regan/Pazuzu uttered that line, it was, if you remember, Burke Dennings' voice. Dennings was the director of the film Regan's mother was making in Georgetown, who "fell" out of her bedroom window and was killed.

In other words, that's actually Burke sounding pretty pissed off, telling Regan's mom that Regan killed him, which was in fact true, although it was Pazuzu using Regan's body to do so.
