I was curious if you should place a comma before "girl" in the above phrase or not as I've seen it written out both ways.

The latter. The comma is called a vocative comma, as it offsets the individual to whom you are speaking. That said, this is a very informal sentence, so I don't think people will lose their minds if you don't properly punctuate it.
